Chosen Genre

The genre of music i am concentrating on his basic Pop Punk/Alternative. Bands that i class around such as; You Me At Six, The Maine and Mayday Parade. My music magazine i will be creating will base around the ideas of the Kerrang! magazine and with a hint of NME. The picture on the right shows the band called The Maine (Rock/Alternative) is their genre that is based around and whom i will be taking on to confront with my creation of the magazine. 

Richard Dyers Star Theory & Feminism

Laura Mulvey had come up with the idea that is Feminism. This consisted of how she thought of in the world of media was that males dominated over women.

Voyeuristically and Fetishistically;

Attractiveness is brought out here when talking about voyeuristically, fetish’s occur such as front covers of magazines showing women such as; Katy Perry, Megan Fox etc.

Male Gaze;

Films will try their best to include attractive and brilliant women that try to become lead roles in movies, whereas in the media world, the lead role is based around strength, bravery etc. the men usually come as the hero to the woman as this happens in most movies.

Cohen’s Moral Panic

A person or group emerges as a threat to societal values and interests; its nature is presented in a stylised and stereotypical fashion by the mass media. Folk devils are constructed that need controlling, which leads to increased social control. This occurs during periods when powerful groups or the ruling classes face troubled times. 


Concern; behaviour of a particular group represented as having threat. 


Volatility; short lived. Panics erupt dramatically but are difficult to sustain. Negative consequences for the rest of us. 


Hostility; folk devils constructed to create a clear division between them and us Consensus; widespread acceptance of the threat posed by this group. Not necessarily reflecting national concern, but the campaigner will be very vocal whilst the opposition will be weak and disorganised.


Disproportionality; will exaggeration of evidence. Not only the number of people involved but also the scale of the problem.

Quantitive and Qualitive

Quantitive is information based and you need to contain a lot of it such as; research material for your product design of magazine covers etc. the questionnaire I create also. Quantitive is going into depth with the work I produce and having rather complex information included. Throughout the course I am going to be adding a lot of information but also go into depth with the information I end up gathering for certain parts of the course, so I am using both Quantitive and Qualitive in a way.

Introduction

On this i will be updating my work and making sure i keep track on the work that i do. On my blog i will be including a different number of analysis which include things such as music magazine front covers, content page and double page spreads and all of these will have 2 different analysis’s . I will be then doing another analysis which will be of a front cover which then I will be creating a mock draft of a college magazine front cover.  I will be also creating a content page for the magazine. For the organisation of the magazine I will be creating mood boards so I will be able to design my page. I will be marketing and producing my magazine for the young teenage audience of society nowadays.
